The cross. Its a symbol we carry arou nd on our necks, have little emblems on our cars, even may tattoo it to our bodies. However, we do need to be careful not to idolize it. The old song says this about it, "its a symbol of suffering and shame." We go around parading the cross everywhere we go, but do we truly understand its meaning. Christ said this in Luke 9:23 "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." Do we know what it means to take up our cross and follow Christ? It ain't some joy ride, its not some Patty cake game, it's not just a symbol. It stands for suffering that Jesus had to endure. It stands for the shame that He had to endure. And by picking up our cross we are partaking of that same suffering and shame. Are you willing to walk with it. Jesus said you will be hated by all nations for My Name's sake. So you'll suffer persecution and trial. Are you ready to walk in that? If you have a cross necklace on or something on your car are you willing and ready to answer questions on why you are wearing it or why its stuck to your car? The cross means to me is salvation and redemption from sin, it reminds me of what My Savior did for my cause He loves me enough to go to that Old Rugged Cross and shed His precious Blood so my family can have a healing agent, so there can ne protection for my family and friends. Oh, the cross is a good thing to have in your possession to remind you of the Promise and Gift that God gave to us, however, I do say this, the cross doesnt have power on its own. It can't save you by itself. It cant set you free from a life of addiction and bondage. It can't heal your sickness and disease. Its just 2 pieces of wood. No, the Power of the cross is not in the wood, ropes, nails or the splinters. THE POWER OF THE CROSS IS IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS! Its the Blood that's cleanses sins and calms fears. Its the Blood that protects. The devil can't cross the Bloodline!!
